MODIPHIUS ADVENT CALENDAR - 5th DECEMBER
We managed to combine our wedding anniversary with meeting Achtung! Cthulhu artist Dim Martin in Athens. It's a relatively close trip for us Brits and the cool thing is knowing that even the Romans were tourists in the Greek ruins - except there was a lot more left standing when they were around!
Dim was a fantastic find, he just 'got' what we wanted for the story. My goal has always been to make the Achtung! Cthulhu books feel like they're based on a really big graphic novel and I think Dim nails that. We spent hours touring some of the great sites in Athens, the new museum that is built over a wide ruin site and you walk across huge glass floors staring three stories below - pretty freaking awesome in the true sense of the word! Sitting on the museum roof top cafe we talked through the awesome art for Lynne Hardy's big campaign Shadows of Atlantis - one of the beautiful hardcover campaigns coming soon which is drenched in ancient mystery. Achtung! Cthulhu wasn't the only thing we discussed, whilst on holiday I dreamed up a major new project for 2016 (yep we're going to need to plan ahead for this one) and we spent some time figuring out what Dim would be drawing once he's finished on Shadows of Atlantis.... In the meantime here's a sneak peak at Dim's art for the first part of Shadows of Atlantis! Dim will be at Dragonmeet on Saturday on the Modiphius stand so come along and say hello! |
