I hope you've enjoyed our journey through some of the stories behind Modiphius and our games. I think a company is much more than just the promotional blurb, it's the people who work hard, it's the mad events and the personal stories of how it came to be. I hope we keep being a company about people and not just another press release.
Anyway, speaking of news! We've been building up to a big story - in fact there's two major pieces of news and we're sharing the first with you today whilst the second will be coming in late January. Achtung! Cthulhu has been growing from strength to strength, and this year we worked with Devil Pig Games on the Shadows over Normandie boardgame which will be coming out in the late Spring. Shadows over Normandie is an awesome tactical game featuring creatures, units and heroes from the Achtung! Cthulhu universe fighting it out over the Normandie countryside. However I've also wanted to do something more strategic, that let's you follow the Achtung! Cthulhu heroes in their missions around Europe. I had quite a strong concept from early on and worked on the ideas through the year. Through my experiences though, I've learned that when you want to do something right you get the experts in. Jay Little the designer of X-Wing and Edge of the Empire took our ideas for the Mutant Chronicles core mechanics and turned it in to a fantastic rpg system, 2d20. So we looked for designers who understood the Cthulhu mythos and boardgames and who better than the man behind Arkham Horror and Descent, Kevin Wilson! So here's that story! Modiphius Entertainment signs Kevin Wilson for Achtung! Cthulhu – The Secret War Boardgame! Modiphius is at it again, signing Kevin WIlson – the designer behind board game classics such as Arkham Horror, Descent: Journeys in the Dark, Android, and Sid Meier’s Civilization: the Board Game. Kevin will be designing Achtung! Cthulhu – The Secret War, an exciting co-operative board game set in Modiphius’ terrifying World War Two universe. Europe is ablaze with the final conflicts of World War Two. As the Allies are caught unaware by a German assault in the misty Ardennes forests, the Black Sun unleashes mythos evil from ancient sites, hoping to overwhelm the Allies forces, whilst the Nachtwolfe attempt to power up a vast war machine that will bring about a 1000-year Reich. All the while the dreams of Cthulhu inspire cultists to rise up in preparation for his return! As the heroes of Section M and Majestic, you must race across Europe on vital missions facing ancient terrors, recovering strange artefacts, and learning unspeakable knowledge to help defeat the forces of the Third Reich and the Cultists of the Old Gods. To aid the heroes’ desperate endeavours, the players must learn to command the powerful but over-extended Allied forces to help halt the tide of evil! Achtung! Cthulhu – The Secret War is planned for a Winter 2015 release. We'll be telling you a lot more about this in the coming months as development progresses. We're really excited to have Kevin on board to help us bring to life another way to experience the world of Achtung! Cthulhu.
