Modiphius Fiction Line Launches Winter 2014/15 with
'Achtung! Cthulhu: Dark Tales From the Secret War'

Modiphius, publisher of Achtung! Cthulhu and Mutant Chronicles is pleased to announce the launch of its own fiction line, with the first release being a fiction omnibus Achtung! Cthulhu: Dark Tales from the Secret War.
Due for publication Winter 2014/2015 the Modiphius fiction line is being edited by John Houlihan, former editor-in-chief of Computer and Video Games.com and writer of the first Achtung! Cthulhu novella The Trellborg Monstrosities. Modiphius has already signed up a host of established sci-fi, fantasy and horror writers to bring this Achtung! Cthulhu collection to life including: David J Rodger: The best-selling author of Cthulhu novels including The Social Club and The Black Lake as well as RPG Yellow Dawn: The Age of Hastur, brings a strange tale of inter-dimensional horror set amidst the ice and snow of the Norwegian fjords in Shadow of the Black Sun. Martin Korda: The BAFTA award winning writer of Fable: The Journey, The Movies and Black & White 2 contributes a spine-tingling tale of madness and malevolence set deep in the forests of Czechoslovakia at the dread castle of Cierna Brana in Terror of Tribeč Richard Dansky: Acclaimed author of six horror novels including Firefly Rain and Snowbird Gothic and chief writer of numerous video games including Splinter Cell: Blacklist, explores the strange world of D Company of The 603rd camouflage engineers as they encounter their most challenging and chilling assignment yet. Writers Biographies
John Houlihan
John Houlihan has been a writer, journalist and broadcaster for over twenty years, working in news, sport and especially videogames, where he was editor-in-chief of Computer and Video Games.com. He has published a novel Tom or The Peepers' and Voyeurs' Handbook and has recently written The Trellborg Monstrosities novella and The Trellborg Monstrosities game scenario for Call of Cthulhu and Savage Worlds, published by Modiphius. Forthcoming work includes the third Seraph novella Tomb of the Aeons and the first Seraph novel, Before The Flood as well as a sci-fi novel A Late Flowering Deity and a still under wraps sports book. Away from the coal face, he has an unnatural fondness for cricket, football, snowboarding, cycling, music, playing guitar and all forms of sci-fi, fantasy and horror. Richard Dansky
The Central Clancy Writer for Red Storm/Ubisoft, Richard Dansky has worked on games as diverse as SPLINTER CELL: BLACKLIST, OUTLAND and COLD FEAR. He is also the developer for the 20th anniversary edition of the acclaimed RPG WRAITH: THE OBLIVION, having contributed to well over 100 books for White Wolf's World of Darkness. He is the author of 6 novels, most recently the Wellman Award-nominated VAPORWARE, and his short fiction has appeared in THE NEW GOTHIC, WAR STORIES, and HORROR ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS. Martin Korda
Martin Korda has been a video game writer and journalist since 1999. His scriptwriting credits include Fable: The Journey, Milo & Kate, Need for Speed: Rivals, The Movies, Black & White 2, Pure and Anomaly: Warzone Earth. He has worked extensively as a script and story consultant for numerous leading video game companies and has been a multi-time finalist and semifinalist in respected Hollywood screenwriting contests such as the Page International Screenwriting Awards, StoryPros International Screenplay Contest, Screenplay Festival and WriteMovies.com. As a journalist he has written for dozens of publications and websites including The Guardian, Stuff, SFX, IGN.com, PC Zone, OXM and OPM. David J Rodger
David J. Rodger is a British author of science fiction dark fantasy with eight novels under his belt. He is also the creator of Yellow Dawn - The Age of Hastur, an RPG that blends Cthulhu Mythos and Cyberpunk themes into a post-apocalyptic setting. His books cross many boundaries to deliver a new and exciting fusion of ideas and genres. Critics describe his work as character driven, richly plotted, delivering tension and drama with a quick narrative style. Each book is stand-alone and can be read in any order, but they occupy a shared universe allowing you to build a deeper knowledge with every story. Jonnie Bryant
Personally, the binding of words to the Cthulhu mythos stretches back to Keeper duties on various Chaosium adventures in the 1980s - the discovery that Walkman-based dream sequences could tip any party into well-timed paranoia made for some hysterical play sessions. From there, generating scenarios translated nicely across to creative writing, several excellent years in video games journalism, the running of my own blog and now, wonderfully, full circle back to this chance to write within the mythos once again. When not scribbling down any and all of my rantings, I’m searching for climbing walls to hoist either of the two spawnlings up while the good lady considers the futility of it all from an appreciative distance. 
Patrick Garratt
Patrick Garratt is a British journalist and prose writer. His first short story, a revenge horror set in France, was published last year. Pat's interest in fright fiction reaches back to a childhood steeped in Stephen King, local folk tales and Dracula. The mordernist "horror" of William Burroughs, JG Ballard and Brett Easton Ellis later became literary influences, and films such as The Last House on the Left, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Switchblade Romance and many others led Pat's writing into the exploration of serial killing. He's written professionally about video games and general technology since 1998, and has been employed by The Sunday Times, The Independent and many websites and magazines. Jake Webb
Jake Webb was born in 1977. He has lived in Iran, Colombia, Texas and Poland. He now lives in Sheffield and teaches English. Jake has contributed to The Zine, Ultramotive, Decode, The Guardian and the short story collections Pool and Talking To Strangers. He is currently finishing a novel, and may well write a sequel to The Curse of Cthulu, or possibly revisit his 1988 masterpiece Jonathan and the Talisman of Itheria. 
Will Salmon:
Will Salmon is a freelance journalist and editor who lives in the west country. He can regularly be found littering the pages of SFX, Clash and Comic Heroes with his daft opinions. His zombie story, The Carers, was recently published in the critically acclaimed comics anthology, Dead Roots. |
